If you've ever shot a Taipan, you know it's a rifle of exceptional quality and precision. Technological progress and trends in the world of air rifles, however, are advancing relentlessly, so despite positive feedback, the manufacturer has not stood still. This brings us to the completely new model Taipan Veteran II.
It's not just a slightly improved second generation of the popular air rifle, where only a Roman numeral two would be added. This rifle, although structurally based on its predecessor, takes almost every aspect to a completely new level.
The most significant new feature is the completely redesigned loading mechanism, which is now located directly above the trigger. This allows you to reload the rifle with one finger in biathlon style, which is practical and comfortable. This design addresses the common problem of bullpups, where shooters had to reach far back to the charging handle, which could be uncomfortable. The mechanism has a smooth operation and allows for the relocation of the charging handle to the left side.
Another significant improvement is the free-floating barrel. Unlike the original Veteran model, where the barrel was held by clamps, the barrel is now held by the rifle's structure itself. This ensures that the barrel always maintains precise alignment regardless of changes in temperature or wear of the clamps. The barrel is fully shrouded, and its bore has been specially designed for slug use. At the muzzle, you'll find an external noise moderator, which can be replaced with a longer variant supplied with the Tactical version of the Veteran II.
The pressure regulator has also been modified to achieve optimal performance. The cartridge has a diameter of 40 mm and can hold up to 311 cubic centimeters of air, allowing for a maximum fill pressure of up to 300 bar. The top Picatinny rail with a 20 MOA slope is perfectly aligned with the barrel, ensuring absolute precision.
The trigger mechanism is the only part that has been retained from the original version. Perfection cannot be improved upon, and after trying the trigger's operation, you will surely agree. The manual safety remains located in the trigger guard just before the trigger.
